These rocks have been carried 70 km by an ancient glacier..

Fascinating really, that SA even had glaciers. I like the way the rocks contrast with the surrounding terrain.

Amazing colours and textures from the second rock...wonder what story it holds

That's amazing!!

How do you know they are glacier rocks? I only see them as big reddish rocks... :oops:

YiP, well the most obvious clue is that these rocks are not found in this area but they are exactly the same as the ones found in Victor Harbor - yes that is the correct spelling. The other clue are the scratch marks on the rocks showing direction of travel and the last bit is geology was one of my majors at college..

To middleton, port elliot and victor harbor.. You will note the very distinctive blue quartz in the granites around these areas..
