i was out with the D70 at a Havanah nights evening, lighting was hard to shoot with but there are a couple of rippers from the collection

The images are a bit small on your post, dont know if you can use medium size ones?

I think a speedlight would have added lots of light, particularly to the likes of #4.

Also, shouldnt you be working right now?

Umm, I work for me, and you work for .... ? oh yeah...

p.s. I am what we call in the industry, an appreciator of a clear pic, but seriously, can you post them a little larger, because to click to original goes to full files size, which is too big for the little network I have here...

Hey 7 I'm afraid the images don't do too much for me, lighting and composition issues... (apart from HELLO #4 )

#1 no real sense of what is going on here, the angle of the shot?
#2 without the red thing, this could be a good shot, however the guy is still cut off at the waist and full length may be a better perspective
#3 is very soft - camera + subject movement?
#4 as noted above - Hello!!! but the feet are cut-off, which loses any dynamic from the photo from the dancing.

#2 is the best of the lot but needs to photoshop out the red blob to remove distraction.

Perhaps a 12-24 would be perfect for this, and get an SB800 to go with it...

i was using an 85mm fixed lens, so i had to shoot with what i had

the more i look at number 1 the more i like it, the composition of the shot is interesting with the blue light being cast on the two guys while the one with a more dynamic pose

and as for HELLO!!!!

i am sure she would appreciate you all identifying her as that, she is actually really nice, here is another snap i took, this was outside the dance floor so it's a lot sharper

Get Oz in a dress, take some full length portraits, good practice... you get the idea!

Amusing as we would all find that, the last thing i would want to be taking photos of is Oz in drag.

so moving along, so far i have played with apature priority and speed priority, i assume that if i increased the ISO i would have been able to get a sharper image of the motion pictures. as i understand it ISO is like the film speed for a regular camera.

is that correct?

re your last photo, my only comments are:

1. You need to learn how to crop your photos properly

2. Try to take the shot as full length portraits instead of landscape.
