Kris, barr the slight reflections (maybe a cpl?) the second works so well for me. The lack of detail in the shadows of the first draws attention to the OH, but also leaves me with the impression not all of the frame has been used.
Glen, thanks. Don't think I mind the reflections... On #1, I guess I lost of lot of detail in my B&W conversion, but I was going for high contrast.
Laurie, just barely. ![]() ![]() Here is the original of #2. I can't take credit for the PP, Pat fixed the aspect, but it's what I had in mind when I took the shot. ![]() Cheers,

I like the PP you've done on the first, but the compostion doesn't quite work for me. The second is great. For some reason, it looks like a photo taken in the 70's to me, but can't put my finger on why...

As already mentioned I find #1 a touch too dark, but #2 is a great concept well executed. Oddly my only niggle with #2 (which I think is a great image) is that is now SO regular it almost looks like the dividing cross of the window frames was imposed in PP over a single reflection. Peter

Thanks for the replies.
Andrew, maybe it's that washed-out sort of look you get from a reflection.
I see what you're saying, but I think it's stronger like this than it was originally. Not sure how I'd fix that or if it even could be fixed... Originally the first had more on the RHS, perhaps I should revisit the crop. And the conversion, so as to try and save some detail on the left. Thanks again, ![]() Cheers,

For the first one, I reckon the building on the left should be pped to get more detail.

#1 is a ripper - the darkness of the building draws the eye to the SOH and the wonderful sky. IMHO this is the better ”photograph”. The number of conflicting images in the reflection makes this a jumble and the eye cannot focus on any detail - maybe a CPL would have helped enormously in this case.

Macka, great shots.
Think a different crop may work better in the first one - maybe you could play around a bit more and see what you like (maybe you'll stick with this one anyway). Love the second shot as you posted it. Cheers, Mick ![]() ![]() ![]()
I really like number 1 too Macka. I think it's a great and different shot of a very photographed icon.
Thanks, Owen. As it turns out, I got 15th place in a recent DP Challenge "high contrast" for this shot - my best yet! cheers, Cheers,
