Great PJ shots mate...Love the composition and colour of the first one... the second shot is also great....seems like the 'calm before the storm'..again great composition..tells the story well.

I agree with Mike. These shots certainly convey the feel of what is happening in your part of the country. I hope all bodes well overnight and in the next few days.

Nice shots Rainey. From the top of Mt Nelson?
Today's conditions promise to be worse unfortuneately. Temps higher and very strong winds as well. Yesterday the humidity readings were in single figures. 8% at one stage I believe.

I live about 2 Kms away from the Mt Nelson fire directly in line with the way the wind was blowing. It's pretty darn scarry stuff. It brings the '67 bushfires memory back.
And it's only October. 6 months of fire season to go. :(

Cheers
John

Thanks for the comments everyone!

John, you are correct, the shots were taken just opposite the Mt Nelson fire station, which I guess is strategically positioned given this bushfire. Fingers crossed that we don't get as much trouble today. I reckon it would be pretty scary being up there and knowing that your house is so close. I think I would have all my important posessions in the car ready to clear out at the drop of a hat.
