Sea Fan - which is better?

Which of these photos do you prefer? The first one with the Sun mostly above the sea fan or the one with the Sun coming through it? I like the idea of the second one, but I don't think I pulled it off.

For me the first by a mile. The additional contrast pulls it off.

they are both good but i like number one,it appears to have a little more detail.
