My Cherubs.

Hi all,

It had been a while since I had taken any pics of my own kids, so I thought I'd have a go over the weekend. Shot in natural available light next to the window, with the kit lens. Only slight PPing done (levels, sharpening, dodging the shadow across my daughter's face in the first and cloning out a few stray hairs in the second!)

....just a shame they are too young for an eyebrow wax!! ;)

C&C welcome, and I will try and add a few more to my site at some stage today/tonight.

 Sometimes I feel like it, but only with my camera!!

Thanks for the comments fellas! I'm actually taking them to a modelling agency this arvo to see if they have 'something'. They are certainly used to the camera so that won't be a problem. I have no intention of exploiting them, but I could put the extra money away for their education!

Jane - nice pics & well lit. Tiny niggles are in #1 your daughters hair would be better brushed away from her right eye and in #2 if the DOF was a bit better and her right eye was also in focus (and some stray hair removal). These are only little things though - the shots are still crackers.

Thankyou guys!

Stubbsy, I know what you mean about the hair brushed out of my Daughters eyes...it was very tricky to get them both to look straight down the barrel and not poke silly faces at the same time! You should see the others!! ;). I did clone out a hair that was in her mouth and across the bottom of her eye, and I might attempt to do the one across the bridge of her nose. It's actually the eyebrows I want to get rid of!

Dan, I used natural lighting from the window in the lounge. I try not to use flash when doing kids portraits....and I don't have an SB600 or 800.

Geoff, the interview went well (i think), and I'll find out tomorow if they will put them on the books. They loved my Daughters hair, but didn't seem that interested in my Son, who I think is so beautiful!

Thanks for the feedback, it's such an invaluable way to learn!

Jane
Both nice, but the second image is a very powerful image and does what all brilliant images do...grabs the viewer and doesn't let go! Well done!

Thanks Matt!

Since I only had 2 pics, I thought I'd add another from the same day I have just processed. The focus is slightly off and she has cheese stuck in her teeth, but it's a great candid of a beautiful smile!

They have both been accepted by the modelling agency, and they are doing their pro folio shoot tomorrow....should be interesting! ;)
