Flowershots

I decided to post these two shots I took on the weekend, mostly because while I quite like both, I'm not so certain about their overall effectiveness and how I might best improve them.
This flower was actually mostly closed, so I shot it from head-on, focusing on the centre and letting the petals be as blurry as they wanted to be. (shooting from the 'if it's blurry it's art' school!)
This was originally a portrait-style shot from side on, showing the full flower and a fair bit of sky, but I decided to crop it to landscape to highlight the one stamen (pistil?) surrounded by its peers, framed (sort of) by the petals on each side.
