Nice sharp shots with good colour, but for me all the marks in the sand are a real distraction. It would have been good to have taken the time to smooth out a patch of the sand.

Nice shots RogerC. This looks a good location for you to get this type of shot. I agree with the previous comments - the sand could have been raked. If the stands dig in you could take a small board and bury it just under the sand for support too.
Cheers,
Mick

Sweet horse, nice shots, but I'm afraid I too have to agree about the sand. Location is nice, but could do with a little flattening out to stop the distraction.

I agree with the others, and for that reason shot number three works best for me.
BTW well done on keeping your reflection out of all that chrome!

Thank you all for the comments and critique and I agree about the sand entirely. I have done some
PS on the sand which makes an improvement, also the mag will crop pretty severely anyway. The bike was sitting on a buried metal plank with a piece of wood under the sidestand. Also the sand there was quite damp and I should have had the guys move the bike a few metres back in the soft sand, that way there would have been even colour as well.. the shoot got a bit stressful as we were running out of light due to the time it took to get the bike in position.....next time!

the third pic is probably the best out of this bunch as the sand is quite distracting.

Sweet shots Roger,
you captured the colours and chrome really well, and nice winter light..
I dont like the beach as a location, but if thats what the mag wanted you just have to do it.
These bikes need to be shot in grungy locations to contrast the subject against the background.
Good work, what mag is it for....?
