Second one by a long way - the sun makes the image, whereas in the first one I find myself looking for the sun.
Both nice images though

I also prefer no. 1. Number 2 is similar to what you would get if you sent someone out to get a "sunset shot" (no offence) but 1 is the result of a dedicated photographer hanging around a little bit longer to see what transpires.
In short, no.1 does it for me!

Second one for me. Like Sheepie, I think the sun provides a focal point.

Both nice but I think #1 has the edge mainly due to the beautiful reflection.

#2 tells a story whilst #1 is a landscape! In #2 I would clone out the top right cloud and crop the tree out on the right

John,
I like them both but the first one, like most others, is great due to the stunning colour of the clouds and the reflection in the water.
Cheers

Thanks for the comments guys. In the second I had actually tossed a stone into the water to get the ripples, perhaps that was a mistake.

I like the first one - I really like the transition from orange/yellow to blue, with the pink/red clouds.
