This pic was taken when i was mucking around after everyone else had jumped into their swags.
i sat two chairs on either side of the fire so they would be getting twice as much light as the rest of the scene then set the camera to 30 secs F4 12mm iso 200 using Pentax *istDs and pentax DA12-24 zoom.
i then hit the 12 second timer and ran over and sat in the left chair for 15 seconds then jumped up and sat in the right chair for 15 seconds ...
the dune behind the scene is called Big red, the truck is called big red and there's two of me

Great image Shane, even allowing for the fact that you are in the pic twice.

This is one of those photos that just screams "Australia" at you.
Oi, Oi, Oi! 8)

Looks like 12 seconds was just about right for this shot Shane. Not too much longer and the star trails might have smudged an otherwise sharp-as-a-tack image. It's a bloody beauty.

I like your imagination in composing this shot, and the result has done it justice :D :D
It looks like an image for the wall, well done

Hi Shane,

what a beautiful picture :D
Tell me, you knew the exposure time would be 30 secs (perhaps ?)
and you decided to share your sitting time between the two chairs ?
Well executed and a great result.
Love the stars, the "two" dudes at he fire and the sand.

Cheers,
CD

you'll have to blame the others for this shot ... they all went to bed and left me sitting up by myself so i had to find something to do !!

Actually, being on a trip like this with three other keen photographers was a good chance to do some experimenting and discuss the results with people who were interested ...

It was a great experience 8)
