Took a photo of this abandoned building. Please let me know which version you prefer and if they work at all. Any C&C is very welcome.
Thanks
Alex

I think the first shot works better then the 2nd ... but to be honest currently neither of them do much for me.

On their own they seem to lack pulling power, but if you move in on a subject like this, you would most likely come up with many great mood/texture images. Did you?

in my opinion, neither of these work alone.
if they were part of a series which culminated with shots showing the decay inside, then maybe.

Prefer the first version without as much grass. Have a play with the curves to really get the contrast and saturation to match the mood...

I prefer the first shot but neither do all that much for me.

Thanks for the critiques. They don't really work for me either, I might re-shoot this one.

G'day mate,
I think the sky and trees might be what's reducing the strength of these, I think Col was on the money by getting in closer and excluding all the extraneous stuff... Might not have to re-shoot, try some crops... Maybe a grainy B&W with some vignette???

Hi Alex,
I think the second shot best because of the overall direction of the composition. The first shot has the chimney going vertical where as the rest of the shot runs parallel with the roof.

I'm quite the dslr newbie, but from an onlooker's perspective, I like the first one. Great shot.
