This was put together for a chef friend of mine...... the recipes were developed for a health magazine and his portfolio hence the tease cropping...... The light was with one Elinchrom 1500 flash head bounced off the ceiling and white reflector at the front..... D70s 105 Nikon Macro....

Yum! As soon as I saw the pics I started salivating, talk about a pavlovian response!

is he the cook for the AW dinner???

That looks so yum! A testament to both his cooking/preparation, and your skills in capturing it on errr cf card (doesn't quite sound as elegant as capturing on film does it!).

not sure if I like the shorter crop on the left...

what would be cool would be if you had it so that it looked like the one plate, i.e. the whole plate across the 3 images.

nice shots though, I'm feeling a bit hungry now too!

Gee I'm hungry now, great work on the pics and crop Bernie although I do agree with optogamut about the plate continuing across the top of the three images. Suppose it's a little late for a re-shoot, bet it's all gone now. :)

Nice work on the food Matt. :D

I like the shots a lot! A lot of images these days are done on an individual basis in most of the mags you see. This triptage is something different.

Bernie,
that looks great. I am assuming that the pair of you dispensed with the models after the shoot. How did they taste??

Great stuff Bernie (as always :) )
I'm with optogamut as far as I don't like the shorter crop on the left - but just me :) How's it look with the text on the lower right hand side?

Food photography is a specialist area and very difficult to do well. You have done a commendable job and the food looks great! A tad of oil brushed over the squid would have given it a bit of a lift. Bit of dry ice to make it look as if it is steaming hot. :D :D :D

Looks great Bernie.. the crop is a lil annoying, id have the 2 side boxs cropped evenly with the center one being bigger...

Looks great tho.. lighting is awesome... food....

That's it, I'm off to have lunch

Well done Bernie. Really like the three shots together. Glad everybody was happy with it.

A friend of mine who had to do food photography got "Digital Food Photography" by Lou Mana. He thought it was a pretty good book.

Cheers,

André
