A Blue Room

Well not actually a room, but blue lighting to stop the junkies shooting up.
Taken on a night walk around Kings X (red light district of Sydney).
Dont ask why I was there......!!!
Well I actually have a couple of street fashion labels who like my urban photography and are looking for some locations to shoot with models.
Images not touched in Photoshop, it is actually blue in there...!!

Blown light on first was intentional....

And the source of the light....

#1 - the image has a blue cast, blown highlights and needs the white balance fixing!!! (I'm joking here :) ).

#2 - a much stronger image. I'm drawn by the colour, and the use of bold shadow and highlight areas. The cage over the central light is also very neat.

I love the light it would be a great urban grunge look.

We have those lights in a lot of toilets up here.I have often thought it would make great lighting but I am not a great fan of hanging round public toilet blocks taking photos  It can get some wrong reactions.

This is the entrance to an underground carpark, not toilets luckily.
I am keen on a fashion shoot here, but would be very hard to get the models/clothes to look good without too much of a blue tinge.
I played with the first image as it didnt have any pp.
Just to give a different look....

funky location, excellent perspectives

practical too as the blue light would scare away all the druggies
leaving you with just the camera crew

Marty - this is your style and I see it developing all the time (pardon the pun). If you could do a shoot here it'd be fantastic, keep us updated on how things are progressing with this, and if u need some help with a camera and glass from a different family - u've got my number :)

Thanks for sharing!

I think these both but for me I like the first one a little more, add a human element in there, a guy pounding against the door, or someone in the fetal position up against the door or wall. The blue is great.

Yes, the blueness of these pics is excellent.

I like the PPed version of the 1st one. The coloured sign on the door works well IMO.

Thanks for the comments for my images.
I agree, a model in the shot will finish the image off perfectly, these are just proofs/locations to show to a client.
The cross is quite safe at night, lots of people around, but some of the back streets are a bit scary...!!!
I will post more locations as I discover them.
