Big birds - landing...Dusted off my 70-200 VR weekend before last since it hadn't been out for a while. Here are some shots taken (hand held) at Tempe that show the quality of both this lens and the D2x.

Nice work Peter. Nice lens. If I had the cash I'd relieve Oneputt of his but alas, 'tis not to be.

Ah, but the Sigm has no VR and so lacks the image stability with the long zooms

Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
#1 is the pick of the set here, with a good angle and a bit of prop blur so it doesn't look like a suspended brick. Also quite a tricky capture with the fuselage almost the same shade as the cloud behind. btw: from memory, thats a Saab 340. One of the nicest turbo-prop aircraft in the category... much better than a De Havilland Dash 8 ( the noise-vibration-harshness factor wasn't obviously a pressing need at DH)
Thanks Daniel. The propeller blur is PP courtesy CS2
![]() Having been in a Dash 8 numerous times I have no doubt it would be quieter Peter
