To be honest Leon niether of them do much for me, perhaps #2 but without seeing it context it feels a bit odd to me.

Looks like a good lens ,nice clear shots No 2 Ilike best.

#1 doesn't work for me either. It's very busy and the foreground just isn't compelling enough to hold my attention.

#2 is better, but I want to see the bottom.

same here, #1 doesn't do anything for me either.

#2 is not bad. Could look good with slower shutter speed, get a bit more of a veil effect, could be worth another visit with a tripod.

Great time of day, colour and sharpness Leon. There is potentially a good photo in both these subjects but there doesn't seem to be a strong enough focal point and therefore interest for the viewer. I do like the verical theme juxtaposed the shadows but perhaps the right perspective has been missed. Somehow angling so that the background isn't visible, say pointing slightly downward to focus more onn the shadows. Don't know if this helps

I would think to have another crack but use the other end of the focal range on the wide zoom. Certainly including more of the mysterious object in #2.
