Yeah, that is a wire for the priests microphone. An odd place to put it, but i couldn't move it.

I like the execution and concept of #1, but find the image itself a little odd. Have you applied some sort of vignette blur to the image? In the lower left corner there seems to be a quite sudden drop off in sharpness where the cord disapperas out of sight. Not what I'd usually expect to see with the DOF here.
