Could not think of much to shoot today so went to a place near Melbourne airport and shot some place (with the camera) :-)

This one is a silhoutte

This one is pretty plain ;-)

Wanted to test my Sigma 70-200 f2.8 more than anything else. C&C are welcome.

Thanks

I really like #1 because it's so different to the average run of the mill plane shot. The other two though don't grab me. They are technically good, but there isn't any feeling of motion to them.

I agree with Peter here, Alex. The first one is very impressive. 2 and 3 are a bit run-of-the-mill (sort of shot I'd take!) :cough:

Thanks, guys. Peter and Simon - agree completely, the last two are pretty plain. I like the first one also.

the first is definitely a different plane shot.

wonder if it is a deliberate silhouette or more a result of an accident?

Thanks, YiP and Steve.

Steve, this one was certainly no accident. I took a few normal 'run-of-the-mill' shots, like 2 and 3, then I realised they are nothing special and desided since it is a sunny day I will try shooting against the sun and see if I can get a decent silhoutte. As a result, I only got one decent shot out of about 40. Another example, which I don't like, is below.

Alex, #1 also does it for me. A great silhoutte shot.
You got pretty close. Didn't have any trouble with security?

John, No problems at all. I was at aircraft viewing area which is outside of airport and is like a car park. Plenty of people watching and some taking photos with p&s.

Last night I was about to drive to the nearest oil refinery at night to take night shots, then I realised that I also had 4 glasses of wine for dinner and decided to give it a go. This one might put me in contact with security guys :-)

The first one does it for me. The clouds add to the pic nicely :) Did you have the TC on as well?

Wayne,

Thanks. No TC, they were flying low enough :-).
