Sigma 10 20 UW Winter in Queensland (DU warning)

Postby Dug on Sun Jun 04, 2006 12:06 am

Winter in Queensland. Life is tough. I have been waiting ages to take the UW out for a swim but every time the weather blows up ot it rains or something.

Today was just about perfect off shore wind to smooth out the sea and pretty clean water.

(Sorry to post so many I have edited them down from 300+ shots)

The water was cool but very pleasant when you were in for a while, it was good to sit in the sun afterwards too.

Good sunburst in #3 Dug. Nice action in #4 as well. Where are all the fish?

I could not wear flippers, (sore toe) so they could swim faster than me!

How is the weather in Canberra?

I see - This might be a bit tricky, but did you take a photo of your gear set up? I would love to see it.

No, I will try to get one for you tomorrow.

It is just a Ewa bag with the D70 and sigma lens.

I need to do some modifications to raise the shutter button a bit and there was a bit of vignetting but photoshop took care of that.

Other than that it works well. I do need a hood for the wetsuit as the waves kept slamming into my ear as I was trying to shoot the waves breaking.

A fraction of a second later and this wave was sloshing round in my skull:-(

Nice Doug. Be wary of the EWA bags in the surf though I have heard many a story of them leaking when they get pumbled.

To get a more natural water colour with the underwater shots try putting an FL-D filter on the lens.
