hi everyone! salutations from North East Pennsylvania. it's been some time since I have posted. from spilling over the posts, looks like there is alot of talent joining the ranks of dslrusers.





over the course of my shooting I found that I have a penchant for appendages. something about hands and feet that really give a glimpe of true character. comments and critiques welcome as always.

Excellent use of DOF here storm. I like this image. In terms of a hand/character study it would benefit I feel with a little more contrast and experimenting with the B&W PP'ing (Leigh-nnnsic would have a great deal to offer in this thread and better able to comment than I). I'm also wondering if you had taken any others stopped down some to get a bit more detail in the woman's face and perhaps her looking at the camera? You have opened up a lot of possibilities with this image. Love the selective sharpness and detail in the hands and composition

Yeah, that's looking more effective. I thought I'd give you this link, whether you'd seen it or not, it may be helpful in terms of another form of treatment

And if you do a search on 'Dragonise' I think, which is another quite severe treatment in B&W that sometimes suits images. Basically playing around even more to isolate the hands and give them a more gritty feel a bit of darkening(dodging) around the edges (vignetting effect) to attract viewers attention to the hands themselves.
There is another program that piggy backs PS called Optikverve that has some great filter treatments and effects especially suited to B&W that you may do a search on google for. Some members here use it to great effect.

he is doing well manta, busy as always. we still manage to get together and shoot despite our schedules. I will prod him into getting back to the forum. ...let him know his is missed.
