First one reminds me of Mars

Nice work Leon,

For me first impressions say #2 is the pick of the bunch plenty of interest and lovely lighting.

#1 I love the open barren feeling this this one.. this one lacks something of interest, but for this shot I think that's kind of the point, its the middle of nowhere type feel

#3 This one is hard as on my dual CRTs it looks complete different on each. I feel that perhaps the some of the LHS could be cropped as it doesn't do much to the overal feeling.

#4 Love the detail in this one the cows, the telegraph poles leading deeper into the shot and then across it. The only thing that is missing for me is a nice fork of lighting in the distance

#5 I like this one the ruins add interest and the way the mirror the mountain range behind them is cool.

Overall beaut series Leon and I couldn't detect any obvious stitching errors well done.

Close - these ones are on the South-West side of Wilpena Pound, just north of Hawker.

Ruins like these are everywhere in the Flinders. In the bad old days of early settlement, the Brits thought this would be a good area to let the sheep run riot. Unlike in NZ though, it doesn't rain much here, and most stations went belly-up pretty quick.

There's some bloody big stations out there still running, but they don't run too many sheep (or anything else for that matter!).

Yes it is barren land up there. My grandparents used to own a pub at Hawker, were also stock and station agents, said they saw a lot of people come and go. I know some years they made more money out of betting on their horses in Adelaide than they made out of Hawker. Would have been a gutsy call to move up there a 120 years ago

I think your panos really show the vastness of the country very well there, including how dry it is. Interestingly, it looks lush to some times I have seen it.

These are brilliant panos.. im not usually a fan of panos.. but these are ace!! i love the 2nd one.. the tones are spot on, when i had a boat i used to go up maroochy river a bit.. and in winter.. the river would have clouds of fog... always loved seeing it as the sunlight cut through it.. but yours is even better!!

#2 and the last one are my picks. Love the colours in the second one and the ruins really make it, shows how desolate the place can be.

Ahhh - I can but dream. Of course, these aren't (yet) up to the standard required for large-scale printing. I'm going to experiment a bit in the coming weeks to see how big I can actually go - stay tuned!

I think the best quality one I've got so far is this one of Leigh Creek Coal Mine...



I've actually had to crop this down from the original, which was the same height, but about twice the width! Have a look at the large size version (click on the pic above) - it's worth it (IMHO)!

As everyone has already said, some beautiful images. I also like number 2 best of these. I am wondering if 1 could be improved by cropping a bit to move the dead wood foreground off centre. It's already a great shot, but might be worth looking at a few different ways before printing.

It is a big and beautiful country. We drove to Broken Hill for a holiday once, when the kids were, well kids. Looking at these I want to go again.
