A quick shot of the Ferry at sunset

Nicely exposed, but could be improved by correcting the pincushion distortion, and levelling the horizon (to make the buildings vertical).
Was this taken with the 18-70?

Yes, it was taken with the kit lens. Below is another shot of the building.

Good shadow detail, but the composition suffers from, I suspect, this being a grab. Perhaps a little less zoom might have been useful, and then cropping so that the ferry seems to be going "into" the frame. At the moment the bow seems to be cut off, and with the space at the stern, it really doesn't quite work for me.

The second pic is much stronger as the sunrays create more of an emotion. Might want to be a bit careful about your vertical and horizontals

The building is leaning slightly to the right.
The first pic is a bit confusing as I'm not sure what your subject is.
