Black & White Autumn Virgin

This is my first B&W conversion so be gentle to me

The weather at Mt Wilson which is near Lithgow NSW was just beautiful just a little fresh at 15deg at noon .For some reason before we left home I decided to take only one lens that been my old 85 1.8 walk up zoom. This shot for some reason was to be a b&w from the start the conversion was heavy saturation and very little sharpening all done in Pi .So how did I go remember gentle dose it.

Loz, I think you've done really well. The strong contrast suits this image nicely.

Great tones and contrast, although the imge does seem very busy for my eyes and cannot pick out the focal point

i have to agree with wmaburnett about the focal point, maybe some dodge and burne is nesesary to attract more the eye to the bench.

have you tryed to add some tones to it too?

I was up there last weekend (20+ degrees on the day I visited) and what interested me was the colour. Unfortunately for me then the B&W shot takes away the best part of Mt Wilson in Autumn. The colour is a key part of Autumn for me - the BW shot ends up being rather wintery.

I love the texture in the shot but without colour to help define specific objects you get a shot with lots of texture but no specific target of interest.

I actually just used the kit lens last week as the light was good enough for just about any f-stop. I also found that a CPL made a huge difference given the range of lighting in the mountains.
