A few of my shots from the show last Saturday. Wasn't really happy with any of my pics. Had trouble with the harsh lighting at the wood chop.

How could I have improved these pics?

2. 1/2000, f/6.3

Started playing the Lumberjack Song and that first one comes out great

sorry, couldn't help myself :? :?

As you say, the harsh light didn't help, but I think the B&W treatment works good on it.

cheers,

I used a PS action that was mentioned a while ago on this forum. Seems to work nicely.

I added a bit of noise to this as well.

I quite liked this series and the light didn't bother me too much. My only issue was with the wood chop, he doesn't stand out enough from the background crowd.

But I see you had it cranked open to 5.6 so there wasn't much you could do unless you had a bigger lens.

Nice shots overall, think trying to find that prime position to take photos would of made you more happy.

Eg car coming towards you sliding instead of a rear end shot of the Holden.

If the skater was more on your side it would have been a ripper shot maybe
