I took this photo while out on a walk along the river here in Perth, there were two of these birds hovering around looking for food, they landed on a light pole and I was able to get this shot.

Andrew - nice capture of a beautiful bird
It is a black shouldered kite - they are found Australia wide (except for Tassie). The lack of feathers on the legs are what distinguishes this group from true eagles. Rel Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

the adults have deep red eyes. hard to tell from this shot though. I love the way these guys hover and then swoop down when they see prey. Steve check out my image gallery @
