Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

The hi key aspects of this shot remind me of my own self portrait recently that was given the "Boyzone" treatment. It may just be me but shirtless guys with high key treatment start appearing a little homersexual in my mind (myself included). I mean no offence by this, it's just something my mind thinks of when I see this type of shot.

Craig:

I did think about the high key boyzone job when I saw this shot,

The problem though, is that this shot is square on in the frame and front on,
this is more a sterile sort of shot mostly reserved for ID shots and mug shots
your shot was arty to start with and well suited to the treatment it received

I guess this one scares me more, as its 'Boyzone in Jail' look, rather then the arty I can't fit me head in the frame self portrait.

It's funny though as we have seen a number of front on Self potraits recently (see the S.E.E) yet only Stubbsy was considered "mug shot" worthy. Interestingly he also had his shirt off ;-) But we are yet to see a High Key Stubbsy.

a high key stubbsy, now theres a scarey thought!!

I could see the similarities to chopper reid in one of them and the folded arms and stern look reminded me of a bouncer, although they normally wear white shirts and bow ties except perhaps at the door to a chippendales gig??

Craig

Don't hold your breath for a high key me. And you made me laugh with this comment:

Is that Homer sexual as in Simpson  or homo sexual as in gay

Freudian Slip, Peter. I was meaning Homosexual, just goes to show I can't type and talk on the phone without blurring my meaning.

Newi, I'll glad see some pictures of your kids, but I hope you take my comments in the right light (so to speak). I'll find the link to the earlier shot I was refering to of me, and hopefully my comments won't seem so out of place.

Edit : Found it, scroll half way done!

No no no. Don't get me wrong here. I am always down for a good laugh. Even if I have to be the topic ;) Please, bring it on
But definatley find me that link, I love a good laugh.

Maybe if I was young and insecure, but no chance of that at the ripe old age of 28 ;)

Here is 2 more less "Boyzone" (love that term) from about 8 months ago. The usual portrait in a mirror deal.

Dude what happened to the hair, to be honest I prefer these two older shots a lot more then the first, even without the "boyzone" treatment :)

Hahaha yeah. The whole reason I did the first pic was to show a few friends the "New Do"
Back on the topic of the first one, I got all Macgyver on it too. It involved a baking tray covered in foil, a flash in a sink and another flash that had baking paper taped over it. hahah, the things we do.
