Not another sunset!!!Driving home last evening and I spotted what I thought would turn out to be a nice sunset. Did several U turns and ended up where I believe is one of the best spots to take a sunset with water (on a city which faces east!). Narrabeen Lake (near the camp ground). Taken with my 5D and Canon 17-40.

Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
I'd been watching the sky yesterday afternoon with great interest, there was some great cloud affects happening, unfortunately I had to stay a bit later at work so wasn't in the position to take a shot, but I enjoyed it out the window all the same.
The 5D @ 17 mm seems to be great for these kind of shots, it seems plenty wide enough for terrific views like this one.
You seem to be blessed by the light. Another great shot.

Lifes journey is not to arrive at our grave in a well preserved body but, rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Wow what a ride." D70s, D300, 70-300ED, 18-70 Kit Lens, Nikkor 105 Micro. Manfrotto 190Prob Ball head. SB800 x 2.
I am sooooo glad I hung on to the 17-40. I did debate, when I had the 20D, to trade the 17-40 for the EF-s 10-22 but in the back of my mind, I thought that eventually I would go full frame and the latter lens would not work with any current full frame camera. There is a huge debate going on over at DPR regarding the 5D and the 17-40 - mainly from those who don't have this great combination. While I do get some vignetting, especially using a polariser, its easily fixed in PS. And you do get a wonderful effect using this lens on FF. I took a similar shot at the same time with my 24-105 f/4 L IS. What a difference a lens makes!
