Please let me know if you like these images. Taken using my sigma 105. I dont know why they are tagged - i imagine someone is doing a study on this population. Shame the tags are really ugly. Poor lizards!

Thanks Craig,

Nice of you to comment. I like the spikes on the back of its neck. It looks pre-historic. A guy i know (who knows a little bit about lizard population surveys) says people didnt always use collars to mark individuals and groups of lizards, they sometimes used "toe clipping"! How barbaric!

Seems most of my shots of late are not attracting much in the way of commentary from the forum members (perhaps I am posting too many). So a note to all - Feel free to tell me why they are no good or why they might not hit the mark etc.) I enjoy reading about people's reaction to posted images. But it would be nice to get feedback regardless of how it goes.

Cheers
WW

Hi WW,

I am with you regarding the tags (cable ties ?!?) on the water dragons.
Nice shots BTW.
I go there a few times a year to check out the water dragons.
Last time I went to the Australian National Botanic Gardens I hoped to see lots of water dragons.
I got to see a lot, but all of them had tags.
I was quite unhappy about that.
How photogenic is a water dragon with what appeared to be a cable tie around its neck.
I didn't take any photos. :x

Cheers,
CD

WW - I try my best to give plenty of feedback, especially any that haven't had much attention, but works been kind of hectic so I've been off my game.

Your right about the prehistoric feel, and yes the cables and clipping are barbaric.

Hi WW, :D

Agree with Craig that the last photo is really cool. Also like the colours in the second one.

Cheers

WW,

The B&W works best for me, purely based on the fact that it masks the horrible tags. The light and shadows work greatly together in that image.

Nice pics WW. Although the WB might be a bit off in the second image. (Unless they really are blue). They are a very angry looking lizard, but i would be too if i had a cable-tie around my neck.
