Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Here are a few of the 300 + pics i took along the Yarra river (Melbourne) on the sunday night prior to the Commonwealth games starting
I had trouble with the light as workmen were still positioning the flag/floats and the lights on the Fish were being tested by being switched on and off,,,,, usually whilst i had the camera set to a time exposure !!
ah well it's all practice i suppose
All taken with D2x and Sigma 15-30/Nikon 24-120
Just on Sunset No pink in the sky darn it !!
I liked the moon effect in this one
I left the rubbish bins/people etc in this as i liked the overall effect
In the foreground are the flag/floats yet to be positioned next to their relevent ''fish''

Second last one would be the pick for me, nice exposure, sharp and I like the people and bins, it gives it a sense or reality.
Nicely done.

Nice set of images. In particular I like the second (the moon glow through the whispy clouds, great) and third.
cheers

Thanks for the positive feedback ,this was my first ''digital'' night outing of any substance and confess i had trouble with people walking into me in the dark even though i positioned myself away from walkways etc , plus it is really hard to line things up in the dark for me, but i must give credit to the camera the D2X really is an absolute joy to use
