Zeke's self portrait inspired me to have a go at it my self as i wanted to try out an old screw mount lens and it was raining at the time.
guessed the focus and took the pic but i looked like an old red faced drunk due to the light so i had a go at converting it to B&W.
...then i saw Mackas self portrait and nearly didn't post mine ... what the hell, Beauty and the beast comes to mind though
Taken with a Takumar 50/1.4 screw mount lens with the Pentax DS at f8 and a couple of seconds [roughly from memory]

I like it, much better then mine (sic) and while I like Macka's more this still is a nicely handled SP. I like the DOF and the B&W treatment.

That's a very powerful, couragous self portrait. Incidentally....most folk don't like seeing their own pictures because they don't quite look right. That's because we get to know ourselves in a mirror...and a mirror shows a reversed image. Try flipping your image over in Photoshop to see if you feel more comfortable with it. Given the pick between a reversed and a non reverse image nearly everybody will prefer the reversed. And very few will pick up that its been reversed providing there are no other clues in the image...such as text. Portrait Photographers....there is a message here!

Big Red - I'm glad you posted!! I like this image, it has a rustic feel to it that shows your character, a bit cheeky; but serious too. You've done well, I think Matt K's comments hit the nail on the head...precise as always.

I think this is a great shot - I agree with Geoff in that your face hints at your character, which gives it a lot of interest, while still looking like a very natural expression. I like the lighting very much as well.

I think this shot is equally as good as Macka's. You've got great eye contact with the viewer, the framing with the hint of OOF background, the strong B & W treatment and all tho e interesting lines on your face work together to create a strong image. And somehow there's a slight feeling of the larrikin to this image that also appeals. Well done.
