Amazing to see a couple of hundred thousand bats leave a colony at once - controlled chaos :)

Cute!!
I didn't have the lens capability to get close but you've more than made up for it Rel. Beautiful shots of these gorgeous little creatures.

Thanks Simon, John & Steve :)

They really are photogenic little blighters aren't they? All shot with the 80-200 2.8 (including the last crappy shot, but was to show the sheer numbers!!!). I'm planning to go back and have another go - they are so inquisitive, if you don't spook them, they sit and look at what you are doing. The individuals at this colony are really close to the road, and are roosting in trees which are really not that big - so makes it easier to get 'closer' shots. I should go a little earlier next time - low light meant slightly noisy, not really really clear shots, but I'm still happy with them.

Thanks again (and thanks Manta, for being the push to go out and have a look)... I wonder how the courtcase went today???

Nice captures Rel, I bet they'll be light shy for a while
Cute and cuddly unless you are trying to rescue one off a barb wire perch then they get decidedly nasty
cheers
