Shot I grabbed while driving home from patrol one afternoon. The mimicking between the two was gorgeous. I set up and took the shot but just moments before both the lady and the dog were both looking out to sea. Seconds later while waiting for the lady to raise her head from the book the dog beacame distracted by a passerby and left the scene.



5 Mins later I was across the road in one of the 5 star hotels on the beach esplanade looking for a shot. I chose the foyer and waited for the gentleman to move to the away from the counter. I took several shots but I feel this was the most effective compositionally.


I can't seem to size the large image any bigger on Flickr. Anyone offer some hints. The images always look better bigger.

The scene of the two friends on the beach is very very nice, seems like a tranquil shared moment...

But with the shot of the entry foyer, well now you're just gloating! Spose I would too... Dunno about flickr, haven't used it sorry

Thanks Andrew. Spent an hour at the beach and only got these 2, what I call reasonable shots. Luck and timing beat me in the first one.

Nice shot of the lady & the dog.

I had the same issue with flickr for my first couple of images, but then worked out that the default image is the medium sized one. Click on the 'all sizes' button above the image & then select the largest one & use its url. Bit of a hassle, especially when I upload the 800pix image specifically & then have to dig around to find it later...hope this helps

I really love the first shot Marco, candid and full of meaning. The second shot, whilst a very nice capture, just doesn't connect with me.

Thanks for the comment Simon. This was my playing with the 12-24 Nikon DX as one of the first images with that lens and also playing with the correction to verticals distortion and I just liked the composition. Perhaps I left the timing a little late with the old guy having moved off a fraction too far from the counter.
