pt4 of my ongoing arabian epic

i pretty much tuned out and i just shot what i saw, so i can't identify any landmarks or give any insights about the history of this place. I found out that the Kentucky fried chicken here is commonly referred to as Kentucky fried camel to the locals, and that the KFC staff stuff up orders real bad if you try to speak arabic.

strange beach the sand was replaced by rocks and these huge concrete blocks.

notice the two lying down making the best of the beach, lying on a huge concrete slab can do wonders for your back

One of the many mosques in the area, this is an abandoned market scene as everyone went inside to pray
Image

inside the mosque looks like somethign out of a sci fi movie very alien but quite seductive with amazing geometrical patterns. The main pattern on the wall is the direction of Mecca

#1 an #2 are wonderfully exposed crating a terrific mood with the long shadows accentuating the form.
#5 market scene really establishes a sense of place. I like the splash of colour in the market stalls that add a sense of balance to the weight in the image of the mosque, the play on old versus new.
Nice series Wendell.
cheers

Love the golden colour in 1 & 2, and I agree with marco about the bright market colours in the 5th - they make the shot. Very nice.

The warm color and light in the first couple really grab my eye, expecially in the second, the big grainy sand on the beach cracks me up... LOL

The market scene is spooky, reminds me of the old movie Omega man and really enjoyed the interior shots, the place looks so inspiring...
