Road to Alexandria
pt 3 of my epic middle eastern experience
One day in January I took a trip to Alexandria, Egypt There was heaps of wonderful quirky things to shoot. Mostly shot with the 70-200VR, if your wonderign the yellowish moody tone was due to me shooting at variable white balalnce i adjusted the kelvin to 5600K+ to get a warmer image and shooting at a higher than normal shutterspeed made my images darker which I intended. The reflections from the dirty window on the bus made for some interesting artistic effects whcih i like.

Very cool! I reckon they work really well as a group of related images, though I'm sure there's a story behind each one.
For instance, what are those large white conical things with holes? What's inside that geodesic dome? Is that dude with the pink-stuff-in-plastic making a fashion statement or selling fairy floss? Who or what is a 'Dr Olivee'? What does Pineapple Fayrouz taste like? What is the pretty lady on the top billboard advertising? LOVE travel photos 
Hi Thanx for sayign they are 'cool' I think they are I can answer a few of those the white conical things are built to trap pigeons, somehow they are lured there and get trapped, in Egypt pigeons are a delicacy. Inside the geodesic dome, that is the Alexandria library, in ancient times Alexandria had the worlds biggest repository of informaation, then that building got destroyed sometime, recently they built a modern library which is the bigest in egypt over the site. The dude with the fairly floss, got no idea, but i think it's just for convenience how else are you to carry around lots of fairy floss Pineapple Fayrouz tastes like crap, the egptian equivalent to coke is much better, the drinkable coke not the sniff sniff kind.
Personally, I find the reflections a little distracting, but the shots are interesting enough to make up for it in most cases. I really like the 4th and 5th last pictures for the lighting in particular.
Yeah, funny, that!! That kind of geodesic dome is often used for covering up dishes and whatnot...  Good for keeping the sand out  What's another word for "thesaurus"?
