I welcome any comments and critique on the variations on my garden theme focussing on DOF variations. I have used my Sigma 150 macro on my D70 for this series.

I Like them. They are bright and cheerful. Red theme. Good technical macros. Thet would look stunning as large prints...a series.

I like #1 and #2 in this series, they really have a exquisite quality to them.

Very striking and beautiful shots, I think. I particularly like second one.

Marco, maybe I'm over macro'd at the moment, but of these #2 is the only one that works. In that I like the starburst effect you've managed with the foreground flowers and the great OOF buds.

Marco I can see why you love Macro it has such an isolated dimension to it
the 3rd one has great composition with the flower at the botom corner and the out of focus area further isolatign and giving prominence to the main subject. I notice your one of the few who uses asymetrical composition to great effect, usually macro people centre the subject, an obvious solution

i would just make the 3rd a bit darker(shadow contrast) for better effect.

Thanks for kind comments Craig and Macka. Matt I'll experiment with the series in print :)
Peter in the series I tried to show the progression of growth from tight buds to full flowered bloom whilst using depth of field to try to highlight this evolution. Sometimes you need a break from a style that has personally reached oversaturation. Perhaps you best not look at the next series
Wendell thanks for the in depth comment it helps me to reflect on how I tackle subjects and themes. :)
cheers

The composition has made a great difference with these, this is very interesting, a little bit different and very engaging for the viewer, your use of DOF has been very well executed, and with well thought out backdrops...

The series idea works well too... Look good as a printed series in a single frame...

Marco,
I really like 2 and 3 - the viewpoints are different to the norm and the use of DOF is wonderful, especially in the 3rd one. I also like the overall "pinkness" of no. 3 - the small amount of background contrasting colour as well as the yellow stamens (?) on the flower combine really well to make a great image.
