This one was my backup entry for the current challenge of Opposites

that last one is has got such a minimalist sophisticated composition i like very much!

Lovely set Peter . Lve the mix of vibrant coours in #1 and as wendell has mentioned the minimalist approach you have used combined with the lighting in the last really works.

Thanks for your comments. I also like the minimalism of that last one, but just didn't think it was good enough to be my challenge entry

Very nice Peter. If that last image is your back-up image for the comp, i'd love to see your main entry

For me the pick of this lot is your so called 'backup' image. If this really isn't as good as your entry then I'm sure it will outshine your 'Splash' from last challenge (a much smaller field can't hurt either).

You guys have me worried now. I didn't use the shot of the bottles for the challenge since Matt K had already posted a similar image here. And BTW we are up to 20 entries.

I guess with the new voting system, it's possible some entries won't get votes, or their will be a tie for the lower placings ?

Craig. It's inevitable that some images may not get votes, but this new system also makes it harder for individual voters to bias the results up or down. In terms of feedback, this makes the placing of comments after the voting even more important (and a comment is much better than a score anyway)

I actually just made the comment about the importance of the feedback in the other challenge thread And I agree its more important to have feedback then a rank

Love the last shot. Makes my eyes hurt!! It would make a good "stock" image.

Yeah I think the repitition style of composition has really worked for you here. One does not need bother applying the rule of thirds as much here, besides the line between the heads and tails. I feel the lighting is spot on too. The colours in the first one are also very nice and vibrant. Is that out of the camera with auto curves? Or is it done in post.

they are all lovely but the last one i really like it seems very balanced and just makes my eyes happy.

The first shot had quite a bit of PP to pump the colours of the grapes and the red leaf without making the green too saturated. Likewise the last image. Here's the original of both:

did you pump up the highlight contrast or just the exposure?
your combined efforts seeking out the subject, takign the pic and post processing them rewards you with a great result

I adjusted levels, curves and contrast for a balanced image, pushed the saturation of the image using Nik Color Efex Brilliance/Warmth filter and then painted the effect onto only the red leaves and the grapes. Finally I added a saturation layer and desaturated all but the grapes and the red leaves to further separate them from the background.
