Goose, i am no flower person as i have stated many a time but damn these are some nice colours, composition to me means jack unless it has wheels and doing a 100mph, but i like them and if the flowers were a bit more central these would look good printed on canvas and split into 3 frames. Well done.
Cheers
John

Composition wise I like these, and I really like #2 I think you've almost nailed it it's a tiny bit close to the top for my liking but other then that I like the angle. The use of DOF is effective too, what sort of conditions were you shooting in ?

I hope you were up over you waist in swamp water :)

I find the following for me.........

1 The background is a little busy....... needs to be more OOF

2 This image stands out, maybe a bit tight at the top.......

3 The background is taking over in this image, not sure if it is a pix of a flower or large leaves....... a tighter crop will help

Overall good PP and color.......... Were these taken at Singapore Gardens, as I will be there early April......
Cheers ....bp....

Thanks BBJ, Geoff, shutterbug, Alpha_7, huynhie and big pix for the comments anbd suggestions - glad you like them.

Craig,
haha... that would have been a good story to tell if I had to wade out through swamp water to get to them, but I took these comfortably on the edge of a man-made pond in the gardens on Sentosa Island.

shutterbug,
unfortunately not my garden, would be nice to wake up and see these every morning.

big pix,
These were taken in the fountain gardens on Sentosa, although you can see water lillies at the Botanic Gardens as well.

No, haven't tried shooting at the night zoo yet - heard that you can't use flash and it is quite dark. Might head down there one of these days just to check it out - is it any good ?

The color in these is so brilliant, they make great subjects...

#2's great! Terrific isolation and brilliant color, framing seems nice to me too, wow that color!...
#1's too busy and saturated, wonder how it'd look with the background blurred a bit and maybe a little de-sat ?

Flash photography is usually banded in most parts, but they have regular shows, where you can use flash, and they have it light up with floodlights, and get the animals to perform etc..

When I went I had the P&S, at a guess the DSLR would peform better but still struggle in the darkest parts.

Thanks mudder, might try to blur the background in #1 a bit, but my PS skills aren't good.
