Went out this afternoon to a 'reserve' near Ipswich - specifically to try to get a shot of my personal moby dick - a pacific heron. Long story cut short, I got a lot of very shitty pictures, and was swearing a great deal, but decided to go and look at the lake ...... took some more shitty pictures, and packed up at sunset ...... and got this :) I was pleased, but that could just be me ?? (It really is a stupid idea to look straight into the sun when taking a shot too !!!!)

Very unusual shot Rel. I love the backgroung colour of the sunset.
Very interesting silhouette - looks like someone's been trying to make a silk purse out of a cow's ear!

A strong image. Refined simplicity...very hard to do with a photograph. Nice!

Love it Rel, love it. Silhouettes are my thing at the moment and this is a gorgeous example. The interesting ear on the cow makes this shot stronger for me.

I love silhouettes too and this is very nice indeed. Not sure that the actual sun needs to be in the pic but a minor nitpik!

I have a gallery in my PBase site dedicated to silhouettes and shadows! In fact, I may post one today :D

Cheers

is nice as is but feel it would be a stronger image without the sun.

the very bright spot forces us to look there.

I personally would like to see it toned down or even cloned out.

well done. simple and effective

Thanks everyone for your comments :) I kind of like the effect of the sun, but here is a crop with the sun cloned out....

Thanks again

Me too, Narelle,

Sun is so bright in first pic that it distracts. Definitely works better cloned out. Having said that, I love the moo(d) of the shot (poor joke, that one.....).

By the way, do you have burn marks in your retinas today?

Keep up the great work

Cheers

Michael

Thanks Steve, Craig & Michael - and yes, I was seeing spots for quite a while afterwards :)
