Here's another one from my Brisbane trip. I'm quite sure the Story Bridge has never been photographed before from the Botanic Gardens shore... :wink:

Anyway, here is what I saw tonight:

Lovely reflections, but the lighting on the boats kind of spoils this shot a little for me.

I liked the boats in the foreground, in fact I used a handheld flash during exposure to light them up a bit...

Hey Steffen.

Having seen just about every angle and incarnation of shots of our own little Coathanger, I'm actually quite pleased to see a different approach. As far as critique is concerned, is this cropped? If so, I would have liked to have seen the full masts of the catamarans, making them the subject and the bridge a spectacular backdrop.

Also, the image seems quite noisy - what ISO were you running at?

The 'river of gold' reflection is magic; worth an uncluttered, uninterrupted shot in itself, if you could find the right viewpoint. Check out <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:StoryBridgeByNight800.jpg>this shot</a>, which is a great example of what I'm talking about.

It is cropped, but only on the sides, to make it square(ish) and remove clutter. The boats were almost pitch black in the viewfinder and I couldn't see the masts. I composed for the top of the bridge lights...

ISO200. Any noise would have to be attributed to my PP. My guess is that it comes from the fill-light (0.5EV) that I applied, maybe amplified by JPEG conversion. However, I can only really see it in the sky, looking very closely. Maybe that's why I didn't spot it when converting the image on the laptop...

I can understand why the masts missed out, hard if you can't see them. :wink:
