Went back to Hyde Park Fountain yesterday and had another go at it, taking into account some of the helpful comments I'd received earlier. I went shooting at lunchtime (brightest part of the day) to allow for faster shutterspeeds; and specifically concentrated on angles that would minimise busy-ness and accentuate the subject (fish and stream of water) from its background.
Opinions? Better? Worse?
Lessons: it's tough to shoot just these little fishies: there is another layer of fountain just above the fishies that causes waterfalls and sprays behind them, there are six of the fish statues around the fountain most of which show up in the background of each other, and the large 'peacock tail' spray of the top of the fountain can, depending on the wind, rain down upon any part of it.
I'm happier with these ones though:

Bit of a blow-out on the statue's arm on this one, but I do like the crystalline form of the droplets on the right:
Advice on further improvement heartily welcome/insisted upon

Having commented on your first lot it is only fair that I comment on these  Remember this is only my opinion
I think that they are much better than the first lot that you posted. However they are still a little too busy for my liking. I think that the first one has the BG right but the angle of the fish seems wrong.
The angle on the second is great, but there is too much happening in the BG and the fish is just too dark. Sorry but I think one more visit and you might nail it.
Maybe try getting lower down so that you are looking up towards the fish. Mal

I like these, I've not seen the fish in real life, but it gives me a good sense of being there.
I really like the angle #1, but would prefer a little more contrast and also the missing bit of the spray on the right hand side.
#2 is a interesting angle as its sort of coming towards you out of the page, its a little better contrast wise (IMO) but again I'm a little annoyed I'm missing rest of the spray...
