G'day L,

Particuarly like the first shot, nicely framed and composed and the B&W suits the subject matter. Any PP on the image though, dunno if it's just me or not (it usually is  ) but seem to notice some type of halo around the tree foliage and branches???

The second is interesting use of a simple subject, be tempted to throw some sharpening at it to extract more detail from the old log...

Hi Lisa,

I really like the first one, and am interested on finding out a little more about how it was taken and any PP that was done.

The second one, to be honest doesn't grab me. I think a different angle may have helped but this composition doesn't do it for me, but the reflections are nice.

Hey guys thanks for the comments but i do have one very newbie question what is PP?
ummm yeah the second one was taken about 5 metres from the edge of the water as i was walking along the tree over the water
Thanks

PP is post processing down with software like Photoshop.

Actually I quite like the second if the overexposed portion at the top of the image was cropped off.

Very sorry, not sure why I got your name mixed up - very sorry about that.

Hi Lisa/Greg :D

I like the composition of the 1st one, but on my crt it looks quite dark...I prefer the 2nd but as Oneputt mentioned needs a crop, maybe just where the trees are reflecting.

Cheers

yeah there is some pp on the first.
just changing it from clolour to the b/w type of effect.
does anyone know what causes the halo effect and how to avoid it.
Thanks
