Heber City Utah Winterfest - 1st Annual Snowmobile Drag Race

Well, this was an exciting experience. Some day I will figure out how to rid my images of the dreaded blue tint. I've been reading about making photographs in snow and have learned that WB setting at Auto -2 should do it. I will experiment with this further. Any input from my friends in Australia is always appreciated. Inspite of the blue tint, I thought you might like this image of Heber Valley with the Wasatch mountains in the background. Although it was a brisk 15 degrees f, it was a beautiful day.

Spectacular scenery. Interesting subject too, i've never heard of snowmobile drag racing before, but i don't live anywhere near snow so that may be a contributing factor.

A PRE-WB may help with your blue tint problem.

TIP: Keep those horizons straight.

I would be very tempted to crop out some of the empty foreground. Oddly enough the blue tint does not really spoil this picture.

That would have been a very cool event to attend (literally and figuratively!). Something that we don't get to see very often in Australia. The mountains in the background are beautiful. It looks like you were right in the path of the snowmobiles dk.

for a quick fix on the blue cast using PS
open the curves adjustment and click the middle eye dropper (mid gray point)
then hunt around the image for some thing that was mid gray (the wall on one of the buildings to your right is fairly close)
when you click on it the color balance will change for the image
to check you have found a gray point have a look at the foreground color swatch on the left hand tool box as it will show the color you just picked
if you start to drift to far in your coloring, pressing the alt key changes the cancel button in the curves dialog to reset so you can start again
your changes don't show up in the rgb curve but can be seen in each individual color channel
the right eye dropper sets the white point and the left the black point
