Just got myself a 50mm f1.4 and quickly took a couple of snaps - those lenses are amazingly sharp. I was messing around with b&w and came up with this.....

I can see what you're getting at CC@T but, for me, the high key approach doesn't do the lens, the photographer or the subject justice in this shot. Too much detail is lost in the blowouts. IMHO a less dramatic version would probably work better. Sorry.

Well, it's an interesting use of what I'm going to guess is VirtualPhotographer, but you need to tweak those settings for that filtration severely as you've lost practically every form of detail I'd expect to see on his face... and that's not a good thing if you ask me.
