This lens is VERY sharp. These photos don't do it justice.

Oh, and yes I know they're not ducks

New lens - Mandatory Duck PhotosWandered down to Minnippi Parklands late this afternoon to give the new lens - Canon 400 5.6L - a try out. Had it on the 20D and on my Manfrotto Monopod with 222RC head and Wimberley plate (and no problems with slip etc).

How can anyone tell how sharp a lens is from a 720px wide (downsized) JPG image on a computer screen?
Seriously, images from basically every lens can look sharp at that size. Where did you buy the lens DionM? Photo gallery online here and some more on deviantArt here.

Dion - nice shots... but yes they are ducks !!!!
Minnippi Parklands is a great spot - we used to go down there quite often.... If you have a look on all of the wild tobacco growing around the place, you can get some really nice shots of a couple of species of very cool fruit fly ![]() ![]() Well done Rel Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams
