Any advice welcome

I was asked to shoot my son's year 6 farewell. I'm happy with the shots as tiffs and they print fantastic, but as uploads they just don't cut it. I am using the frame action someone sent me (THX again) because I get a better result that way. I just can't seem to hold the sharpness when PP'ing for an upload...any suggestions here?
Also feel free to comment on lighting, crop or any other aspect that might better the result.

They are all shot with D70, 18-70 kit lens and SB800.









Also thanks to those who commented on my Team photos lens post. I have not been online lately but will look into all your suggestions over the Christmas break.

Very good shots indeed, seem to be well exposed in my eyes, 1st and 3rd shot is my favourite out of them seem to have a perfect balance to me that is

Great shots - I like #3 something diferent without looking very staged - you know what I mean......???

1 2 4 -> nice shots but everyone will have these kind of shots as fillers in their album......

But number three - it makes you look at it again .. it has a story
I am presuming your kid is not in the background

Nicely done. I don't see a problem with sharpness. Bear in mind that these images are only a few hundred pixels wide, so there is going to be some detail lost.

Very natural looking lighting, and the models are relaxed and seem to be enjoying themselves. #3 is great, looked like a lot of fun Could you maybe make #1 a bit more centred? Not sure how much cropping you've done there.

I think they look just fine for online photos - You're always going to lose detail with smaller pics.

Sigh, kids grow up so fast these days... They're twelve?! I'm with ipv6ready, I think a couple of the mums were a bit liberal with the makeup stick!!! A couple of the girls are going to be real heartbreakers when they grow up...

These look good Ghost, as has been said above, your always scarificing some quality or image data by compressing them for the web. Seem you handled the lighting well and found a pretty good background to shoot against, and looks like the kids are having fun, which is what I'd be aiming for with photos like this (rather then over posed, more ridged shots).

These are terrific, seem nicely exposed, looks like they're very natural not posed, and genuinely happy to be there, #3's a pearler! Something slightly different, a fun image and definate keeper!

Re: softness, do you gently sharpen after the re-size?

Excellent staging and lighting! These images will be priceless one day. Did you put a noise filter through these? They seem just a tad too smooth....almost like you used a Canon.

Girls just mature quicker, Chris I guess you learn this when you get older... and maybe have gain more experience
