Took delivery of my new Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DG HSM lens yesterday. I was comparing between this lens and the Canon 50mm F1.4. After reading good and bad reviews and user thoughts/ pictures about the Sigma, I decided it was the lens for me.

First Impressions:
It's heavy - Compared to the Canon 50mm, but I knew that
Solid - Metal mount, very well made
Focus - Very quiet and fast, compared to my 18-55 (kit) and 75-300 IS

I'm no expert, and these shots were 10 minutes after attaching to the body. No sharpening has been applied to these images. I wanted to show the standard capture from this lens. As usual, my equipment outperforms my ability. My motorbike can corner quicker and harder around corners than I'm willing to push it.

The motorbike shots were from inside may garage.

first things first wash your car (actually mines not a lot better)

then post a bigger pic of your 600. gotta see the whole toy!

What can you do?
a) You buy the wife a new car
b) I'm only allowed to drive it on weekends ( and that's only if she's tired )
c) I tell the wife to wash and clean the car.

We have a little stand-off and then I end up washing the car 3 weeks later. Not easy in Sydney water restrictions. I reckon I use more water with the bucket method than I do with a hose and turning it off when not hosing down the roof.

That how they asked you to save water and next one is the desalination plant

Mate I know your pain! can't live with em... cant live with out em or something like that

And those restrictions have gotta suck, I'm all for saving water (I spent a few years out on the farm where we would have to get the fire tanker out to fill up our tanks for the house through out summer) but I'm with you and believe that the 'bucket' method use more water... in fact i think 'ACA' did a story on it and found out the using a hose (with some sort of on off noozel on the end) used less water....

About 2.1/2 hours drive from where I'm, no water restriction and I'm heading there soon. Just sick of all the BS from the mouth of all the politicians.
Our Bob builder spent a fortune in Dubai before he left the office, just for taking some photos of the desalination plant overthere.

As you say straight out of the box but you look like your doing very well with it. One thing, what sort of a bike is a Mazda 6 Enjoy the new toy I look forward to more images

Back to the photos...

I'd liked to have seen some more DOF on a lot of these shots. I agree with having a focussed portion to draw your attention but in some cases there are bits that you'd like to look at but nearly the whole shot is OOF.

Are these all taken @ 1.4 then ?

I will now have to figure out the DOF usage with this lens ( and any lens ) to get nice shots of people etc.

Marco, the Mazda 6 is one of those bikes that has too many wheels (3x) and too many seats (x3). Both have air conditioning

I did some tests with this lens a while back, and I was totally impressed. I like yours too, wide open appears quite sharp. I wonder why Nikon doesn't put out one at 1.8? I bet it would sell like hotcakes.
