my mate recently got a new petrol r/c car, so i thought it would be good panning practice. was low light so had to boost iso up but still was a bit too slow so not exactly tack sharp. these things are really quick and zip all around the place, a lot of fun.

i know this is way over contrasted, but that is what i was after to make a bit more interesting. i cant decide whether it works or not.

comments more than welcome.

Impressive Panning skills there, i used to own a on-road RC gas powered car... and with a top speed of 90kmh... it was a goer..

Nice work on the shots.. not bad for lowlight either.. you certainly get the feeling of speed

The first image, albeit not perfect, is great. I love the way the grass is being chopped up like that. Brilliant.

thanks for the kind comments guys. u shoulda seen all the grass tangled around the driveshafts...wasnt a pretty sight they arent exactly best suited to grass.

Love the first shot.

I used to race R/C Cars, 1/10th electric Offraod and 2 speed 1/10th on road gas. I have thought about going back to the local off road track @ St Ives and practising my panning shots. Just a little worried about the dust these things kick up. I hate bunnies.

After my R/C Glider post last week, I though it might be easier to track a car.

That's a Kyosho 1/8th scale with a .21 engine, is it still called the inferno?. Would absolutely honk along.

I still have a 1/10th HPI gas off road truck in the garage. Only had a few tanks of fuel through the engine.

I used to think R/C cars was an expensive hobby, now I've found DSLR.

What lens were you using for these shots?

Thanks wocka, you sure do know ur r/c's! yeh im pretty sure its still called the inferno, but not positive. i used the el' cheapo 70-300mmG for those shots.

I like the first one, I really get the impression of reckless speed! The second is too contrasty for me...

These things are a ball though, went out to a track used for racing on-road (is that the term?) ones, carbon fibre chassis, independant coil over oil-filled shock suspensions, sway-bars etc! Amazing technology in these things... When I was there some dudes were pulling their cars apart between races to change suspensions to suit the track, strewth!

Hmmm, a little web cam or something in the windscreens of these things would be good fun

thanks andrew. yeh wasnt sure bout the second one, and im still not. yeh the amount of adjusting you can do with these things is pretty incredible. my mate just put in a better clutch, out with the old, in with the new...and its amazing how much difference the adjustments to everything actually make!
