Dawn on the bonnet

Woke very early this morning (damn) so ventured out to see what the sunrise would be like. It was cloudless and very orange so tried capturing some of the colour on the car's bonnet for something a bit abstract.

Jed - Nice work.
The first one is something you'd see in a car mag! THe others have a very artistic approach to them...your car is immaculate! :)

Nice concept.

The first and particularly second are great; I think the last few suffer from dirty car syndrome just a little.

Maybe the first one I'd PS out the bit of reflection you car see under the car from the A/C drain water (or is it an oil leak, it is a Holden after all  ).

But all technically good shots.

Nice photos and car! The first pic looks very professional.

Done any mods to the Clubby? :)

Get up early and take shots of the sunrise on the car, now there's a car person, I can appreciate it, it's a guy thing  Dirty car syndrome??? Strewth, it makes mine look downright disgusting, I don't think anything would reflect off mine with the amount of dirt and crap all over it...

Great car shots, the first one really does look like magazine stuff, really well done, looks great.

First one is my favourite and I'd only be echoing others above to say it looks very much like a shot from a magazine...
Out of the rest the #2 and #4 hold the most interest....

First and second last pic are the ones for me. Should submit that first pic to some magazine and see if it gets printed :D

Amazing pics coming out of that D50 - the person behind the camera helps as well :D

I love that first one!!

Would be tempted to see what it looks like with a bit of Shadow/Highlights to bring out the bottom of the car and wheels a little more (just a little!)

Well done on all of them though. :)

Thank you all for your kind comments. :D

Still pretty low on the learning curve but I was really pleased with how they turned out. The R1800 is going to get a workout on the first shot for sure.

All these shots were taken with the 50mm lens and the bonnet shots only pp were cropping, resizing and a touch (10%) sharpening. The first shot had a bit more work to bring out more detail. Love the options that shooting in raw gives you.

OzzieGirl - only mechanical mod has been a tune which improved it from 228kw to 260kw at the back wheels. Goes quite nicely now. :D

Cheers, John

That first shot is very impressive John.

Even more impressive is the result of your tune. Was it just a tune or some sort of chip change as well? Good result either way.

I like the whole set. There is a glossy brochure quality to them. It's images like that Holden uses to sell those cars. :)

The first 2 really do it for me. Forget the magazines, try Holden direct as a promo shot with the first one! I could see that as a poster in the dealerships.

JED - I am always amazed at the quality of ”colour” that comes out of the D50 - IMO it is better than the D70.

The first pic has a beautiful quality to it but for brochure work a major retouching of the right back end would be needed. If you check the brochures of most major car companies you will see (very often) one shot that graces the front cover. These shots are controlled and invariably heavily retouched. The pic is still excellent.

The rest of the pics are superb in concept and execution :)

Thanks Glen. No chip change. They just plug the the car into their computer and adjust settings. I wanted it tuned to give more torque down low rather than for outright power and they certainly delivered. :D A side benefit is that fuel consumption has dropped by around 2l/100km, so its win, win all round.

Cheers, John

JED,
I thought they make something better in lingeries than those "Bommodore"

Don't worry Glen, I value my gear too highly to subject it to that sort of abuse.

Nice shots!! I can never get my car shots to look that damn good.
