I found 4 of these cute baby Noisy Minors in the backyard today. This one was having a nap on a rock. I was amazed at how close i could get to them.

Great sharp shot. I take it the Minor was quite small. Nice discovery in your backyard :D

I'm not sure where the nest was, but there were 4 baby Minors scattered around the yard. They are very small and most of them cant fly yet.

It's a tough job keeping an eye on all the wildlife. One of the baby minors couldn't get up in a tree as it was getting dark tonight, so i let the little fella jump on my hand and i put him in a tree. They are SO cute. :)

It's a pity they have to grow up... but when they are small they are very cute. I really like this shot, is it full frame ? At 70mm how did you get so close to the chick ?

I could get as close as i wanted to the chick, it was sleeping and didn't seem fazed. I think they must have fallen out of the nest because they are way too young to be wandering around. Unfortunately one of the neighborhood cats got two of the baby Minors last night, which i am not happy about.

Just tried to put one of the baby's back in a tree, but got swooped by the parents this time.

Poor birdies, I guess it's a reminder of the high mortality rate for a lot of the wildlife out there.. be it native or introduced pests (cute they may be). So did this chick survive ?

I'm not 100% sure, but i think the chick in the photo is the one that i put in a tree last night (one of the 2 that survived). This one seems to be the youngest and has the most trouble getting up into trees. It is very cute, when it jumped on my hand last night, it fell asleep and it was difficult to get him onto the tree lol. I will have to keep a close eye on them tonight.

Now where did i put that cat trap... :P
