Scott, that handheld shot beats all my tripod shots!! ... but now I have the Benro rather then my cheap and nasty tripod I might have another crack at it.
![]() Was you shot taken at 400mm ?
Yeah taken at 400mm and f/8.0 ISO 400, VR on! This was my first of 5 taken, so it turned out better than the others. Thanks for looking Alpha. Cheers Scott Nikon D80, Nikkor VR 80-400mm, Nikkor 18-135mm (kit lense), 90mm 2.8 macro, Tamron 2x AF TC

That's for those who think that the lens isn't sharp!
![]() Nice work, Scott. Give it another shot in about ten days, as the full moon approaches, and then see what you can do. Craig, The moon is quite bright, and as you can see, there's little need for a tripod for this type of shot. 400mm, VR, f/8 (right in the sweet spot for the lens) and 1/400th and you're there. Holding the camera and lens correctly is another part of the key for this too. And never, ever, "press" the shutter relase. Always squeeze it very gently. As we were leaving Thanh's yesterday we noticed that it was out and looking quite interesting; I suggested some settings to leigh but he wasn't interested, and we didn't have the 80-400 with us. Stay tuned, we may do another full moon night shoot early next year (who's interested in that?). We certainly had a lot of fun at this year's full moon event, including some evidence that the full moon does, indeed, bring out some rather strange people. ![]() g.
