Big V - up to your usual high quality, well done. There is just something about these animals that you just have to love. BTW: what is the latest update on the lions and or tigers facilities

When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
The cuteness factor of these fellas never fades. The are the second cutest creatures on Earth with Numbats being the cutest. IMHO.
![]() Great images. Why have we seen a plethora of meerkats on the forum this week? Is it International week of the Meerkat? Not that i am complaining, i would never tire of seeing them, especially when they are this good.. ![]() Steve.

Very nice as always, Big V.
I always seem to have trouble with distracting backgrouds. These are nice and smooth.
I'd like to see a meet there when it's ready. ![]() Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

Please forgive me for disturbing the choir of praise with a critical remark...
![]() I just wanted to say that excess sharpening takes the 3-dimensionality out of an image. It makes it look flat, like photographed from a magazine page. Look, for example, how the meerkat's whiskers get firmly embedded into the background noise. Take this from somebody who doesn't claim to be able to do any better. I just feel that people seem to have an urge for an abrasive sharpness that could never be achieved with Kodak Technical Pan and the best equipment. I'd love to see those cute meerkats before sharpening. Cheers Steffen.
